Yukon River Canoe Adventure - Whitehorse to Carmacks - 11 Days
Fall for the “Spell of the Yukon” by joining us for this one of a kind canoe trip!
The Yukon River offers an amazing wilderness trip spiced up with history at the tip of your paddle. First Nations people have used the Yukon as travel route and have hunted and fished along its river banks for thousands of years. With the discovery of gold deposits in the Klondike Valley near Dawson the Yukon became the major transportation route for adventurers seeking for the riches of the north. Today we can still explore some of the remnants of the gold rush of 1898.
We have watched moose, black and grizzly bears, wolves, caribou, dall sheep and plenty of bald eagle and various water fowl on this river. If you are interested in fishing for pike and grayling, bring your fishing rod!
We will start our journey right in down town Whitehorse and settle in to the trip with an easy to navigate river section that get us to spectacular Lake Laberge. Following the lake we will explore a section called “Thirty Mile River”, which became part of the Canadian Heritage River system for its historic significance. At the abandoned settlement of Hootalinqua the Teslin River joins the Yukon and from here we will travel on a much larger waterway all the way to the Village of Carmack.
This trip is well suited for canoeing beginners and advanced paddlers alike.
